Industrial Photo Art
Beauty and power envelope the shapes of industry, its pipes, platforms, smoke, and steel. Behind the beauty is the beast, the dark side, bringing the disaster of climate change and world turbulence ever closer. My industrial photographic art reflects my environmental concerns.
Blending multiple photos of abstract markings and color with the reality of industry’s machinery, I intuitively work with the ideas of conflict and simplicity. I search for material among the many industrial power plants in the Bay Area, shooting through chain-linked fences.
In the Industrial Series, I’ve used two photos of a local industry, compositing them with textures and color. I instinctively play with images until they express a mood or idea. Painters, such as Brice Marden's color fields, have influenced this series.
The Industrial Art reflects on the world’s missing sand, abundance of waste, over-use of electrical power and soil damage. My concern for the earth helps create these images.

Minimal Photography
I look for subjects that catch my eye. I find these photos in unlikely places, on the street, a window, on garbage cans, or in old factories. I see beauty in the simple, unadorned, unpretentious, and often under-appreciated subjects. My minimal photography is a counter to the industrial series and allows me to enjoy quite experiences.
